After the IVRPA Conference in Berkeley ended, a group of ten attendees traveled to Yosemite National Park for a two photography and sightseeing adventure. We were picked up in Berkeley by a guide from Incredible Adventures who drove us on a trip customized to meet our interest in panoramic photography. The weather was superb and Yosemite is magnificent. It was a whirlwind tour so in many cases I was not sure exactly where I was, thus some of the captions are vague. If you would like a more organized panoramic tour see Don Bain's Virtual Guidebook of Yosemite. A separate tour of Mariposa Grove follows. |

Mariposa Grove, Yosemite National Park, CA • June 20, 2007 |
|
|
Since Mariposa Grove is located at the South Entrance to Yosemite, we stopped there first to be as efficient with our time in the park as possible. We only visited the Lower Grove and walked the trail as far as the The California Tunnel Tree and then returned. Note the "Grizzly Giant" tree below. It is the oldest tree in the grove and is estimated to be from 1,600 to 2,000 years old. These trees are truly spectacular specimens from nature. A "Mariposa Grove
of Giant Sequoias
Guide and Map" is available online.
